I originally ‘founded’ Thomas D’Arcy Music out of necessity. When the decision was made to release the last Small Sins record independently, I needed to put a label name on the artwork, really just for the sake of cataloguing the release through the distributor, and because my incorporation was already named Thomas D’Arcy Music Inc. No big plans to ‘be a label’, just convenience for myself. Yet as I continued to release my own work, taking care of most of my own business, I realized that my experience could be useful to others. There are so many artists that I love in Toronto that need a home, but don’t need a corporate entity to affect their art. And if I can help them, then so be it. Look for
other artists’ releases besides my own work in late 2013.
